Scenography
About Catalogue
Part of every performance is its visual, artistic form. The set and costumes contribute more or less dominantly to its interpretation. They combine the functional characteristics of space and clothing with aesthetics, bring additional layers of meaning, and help the actor in interpreting the character. Alongside the Choreography and Directing modules, the Scenography module seeks to capture the most significant figures in scenic and costume design, who actively influence the shape of contemporary theatre. In addition to basic biographical information, each profile contains a characterization of the artist's work that places him or her in the context of Slovak theatre, with an emphasis on its specifics and artistic direction. The profile ends with an inventory of work in Slovakia and abroad.
As in the other modules, Scenography includes photographic material of selected productions.
This section's original content includes stage and costume designs from the productions and other documents related to the creative process. These documents allow a better insight into a creator's handwriting. The aim is to present unique behind-the-scenes materials from the production's making and thus expand awareness of set and costume design as a full-fledged, high-quality, and often self-standing part of the production.
